Staff Spotlight is a way to highlight the great people working at Albion Central School District.
Name and Position: Nicci Nicholson, elementary school social worker
Hometown: Albion
Education: Licensed Master Social Worker
Why did you want to do this job: I wanted to give back to my hometown and make a difference in the community that I was raised in. I have always wanted to work with children, make a positive impact on their lives, and be an advocate for those that don't have voices for themselves. Knowing that we live in an area of poverty, I wanted to become that link for families to get the resources they need in order to provide for themselves and their families.
What is your favorite thing about what you do here: I love building a rapport with the kids and maintaining that connection, becoming their safe space and a friendly face they can turn to when they need help.
What has been your best memory since you worked at Albion: My favorite memory was being able to help families to give their children the Christmas that they deserve and seeing the smiles on the kids faces when they came back to school and wanted to show me all the cool things that Santa brought them, one particular student saying it was "the best Christmas ever".
